João Brito Martins

João Brito Martins holds a degree in Economics from the Universidade Católica Portuguesa and an MBA from IMD in Switzerland. He began his professional career as a consultant before joining the EDP Group in 2005. Over the past two decades, he has built extensive experience in strategic marketing, pricing and planning, M&A, and internal consulting, with professional experience in Portugal, Spain, and Brazil. In Brazil, he was responsible for the Innovation and Sustainability area until 2014, subsequently becoming Director of Strategy and Innovation from 2014 to 2016. From 2017 to 2020, he served as Distribution Director at EDP Espírito Santo and, starting in April 2020, as Vice President of Distribution at EDP Brasil. He later joined the Board of Directors of E-REDES, the EDP Group company responsible for electricity distribution in Portugal. Since June 2025, he has been serving as CEO of EDP South America, leading the company’s operations in Brazil and Chile.
