Ecological Restoration as a Decarbonization Strategy

Ecological restoration has become one of the most effective strategies to mitigate the impacts of the climate crisis. Beyond recovering degraded ecosystems, restored forests act as natural carbon sinks, contributing to climate regulation, water resource protection, and biodiversity conservation. This panel will showcase São Paulo’s advancements in forest restoration policies and discuss the potential of restoration to drive decarbonization goals, generate green jobs, and strengthen territorial resilience in the face of climate change.
