Alessandra Corsi

Alessandra holds a degree in Geology from São Paulo State University Júlio de Mesquita Filho (1995), along with a master's and doctorate in Geosciences and Environment from the same university. She works as a Researcher in the Investigations, Risks, and Environmental Management Section of the Cities, Infrastructure, and Environment Business Unit at the Institute for Technological Research of the State of São Paulo (IPT). She is also a lecturer in the Professional Master's Program at IPT, for the Subsoil Investigation: Geotechnics and Environment Specialization Course. In 2004, she participated in the 5th International Course on Information System Management for Disaster Mitigation, offered by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). In 2010, she participated in the Overseas Training Program (PDCE) through a project with the United States Geological Survey (USGS). She has experience in the Geosciences field, with an emphasis on Geographic Information Systems and Geotechnical Cartography, focusing mainly on the following topics: geological risks, mapping and management of risk areas, surface dynamics processes (erosion, landslides, and flooding), geotechnical cartography, geoprocessing, geostatistics, and Smart Cities.

Natural Disaster Management: National and International Case Studies

The frequency and intensity of natural disasters have been increasing globally, driven by climate change and urban expansion. Effective management of these events requires integration of urban planning, public policies, technology, science, and community engagement, aiming to reduce risks, save lives, and protect critical infrastructure. This panel will present local and international experiences in disaster management, addressing prevention, monitoring, response, and recovery strategies.
