Sidney Klajner

Sidney Klajner is a digestive system surgeon, robotic surgeon, coloproctologist, and President of the Albert Einstein Israelite Hospital. In 2023, he joined the board of directors of the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI), with which Einstein maintains a strategic alliance. Since 2018, he has been a member of the advisory board of the Fundação Faculdade de Medicina, affiliated with USP. Klajner is also a professor on the Executive MBA in Health Management at the Instituto Israelita de Ensino e Pesquisa. Since 2016, he has been leading the advancement of digital health at Einstein, fostering a culture of incorporating cutting-edge technologies and processes, such as the use of data in decision-making. In 2019, he published the book "A Revolução Digital da Saúde" (Editora dos Editores). Due to his leadership in the adoption of emerging technologies in the sector, he was invited in 2023 to participate in South by Southwest (SXSW), the world's largest innovation festival, becoming the first speaker from a Brazilian healthcare organization to be there. He also led a panel at the 2024 edition of the event with major global health institutions to discuss technology and access, and in 2025, to discuss climate and health and the impacts on the most vulnerable populations. Recognizing the impacts of climate change on health, Klajner positions the issue as a strategic priority. In national and international forums, he advocates for policies and innovations to make the healthcare system more resilient. He is also a Leader with Impact for SDG 3 (Health and Well-being) by the UN Global Compact in Brazil. Furthermore, he is among the ten Brazilian leaders with the most significant presence on LinkedIn, according to GV-executivo magazine from the Getúlio Vargas Foundation (FGV), and has been a Top Voice in health on the social network since 2020.

One Health: Integrated Response to the Climate Crisis

The One Health approach recognizes the interdependence between human, animal, and environmental health, proposing integrated responses to climate crises and their impacts on ecosystems, communities, and health systems. Climate change increases the incidence of infectious diseases and affects food security, water quality, and mental health, requiring coordinated action across different sectors. This panel will discuss strategies that strengthen the resilience of populations and ecosystems. Opportunities for research, technology, and intersectoral collaboration to prevent health risks associated with climate change will also be addressed.
