SOLD OUT – Botanical Garden, one of the largest remaining fragments of the Atlantic Forest in São Paulo

The garden has almost a hundred years of history and houses one of the largest collections of orchids and bromeliads in the country, as well as a suspended trail, a museum that tells the story of botany, lakes, greenhouses, and rare plants from around the world. The Environmental Research Institute, which develops various projects focused on climate change studies and flora conservation, is also located there. Participants will visit the Environmental Studies Laboratory (LEA) of the Environmental Research Institute (IPA/SEMIL), a 300 m² multi-user unit equipped with state-of-the-art technologies for environmental research, including growth chambers, chromatographs, and gas analyzers. The infrastructure, coordinated by researcher Emerson Alves da Silva, strengthens national and international scientific cooperation, promotes research, development, and innovation projects, and hosts training events. A visit will also be made to the Linnaeus Garden, created in the 1920s; one of the park's most emblematic spaces. Inspired by the gardens of Uppsala University in Sweden, it pays homage to Carl Linnaeus, considered the "father of taxonomy." With Renaissance symmetry and the richness of Brazilian flora, the site brings together a reflecting pool, greenhouses, pergolas, staircases, palm trees, and gardens bordered by the Atlantic Forest, offering visitors a unique historical, scientific, and landscape setting. Also open to the public will be an exhibition with over 800 pieces, including ritual artifacts, utensils, and symbolic objects that reveal aspects of the daily lives of indigenous peoples. These materials, some 11,000 years old, are divided into rooms that tell the story of Brazilian culture, the impact of the arrival of Europeans in the country, and portray the life and work of Marshal Cândido Rondon – the leading indigenist in South America and founder of the Indian Protection Service (SPI), which preceded FUNAI. / Summit pickup time: 9:30 AM / Arrival time back to Summit: 1:00 PM / Bilingual: Yes.
