SOLD OUT – Campinas City Hall presents: Visit to Sirius, Brazil’s new 4th generation synchrotron light source

Participants will visit the campus of the National Center for Research in Energy and Materials (CNPEM), where they will learn about Sirius, the largest and most complex scientific infrastructure ever built in the country, developed by CNPEM researchers and engineers in partnership with national industry. The Brazilian synchrotron light source is located in Campinas (SP) and occupies a sophisticated 68,000 m2 building. Sirius' particle accelerators produce a special type of light, called synchrotron light, of extremely high brightness, which allows the investigation of the structure of matter at atomic and molecular scales, with applications ranging from drug development to the creation of new sustainable materials. The guided tour of Sirius will allow participants to see up close the equipment that has put Brazil on the map of global science. / Departure from Summit: 2 PM / Estimated return arrival at Summit: 6:30 PM / Bilingual: Yes.
