Luz Stella Murgas Maya is a lawyer who graduated from Universidad del Rosario in Bogotá, with a specialization in Tax Law from the same institution. She has dedicated over 18 years to the mining-energy sector.
She served as Vice President of Promotion and Allocation of Areas at the National Hydrocarbons Agency, where she fostered foreign investment, particularly in offshore hydrocarbon exploration and production, and held the Exploration Manager position.
For eight years, she worked at Ecopetrol as a tax advisor across the company’s entire value chain, participating in the valuation process for its initial public offering and in the internationalization of the business.
She then founded and led her own legal consultancy, focusing on environmental, social, and commercial aspects of mining-energy projects. Currently, she is President of Naturgas, the Colombian association representing the 29 principal gas producers, transporters, distributors, and marketers, and serves as Latin America Coordinator and Executive Committee member of the International Gas Union (IGU), which encompasses 150 countries and 90 % of the global gas market.
