Decarbonization Pathways for Industrial Sectors

Industry plays a crucial role in reducing global greenhouse gas emissions, especially in hard-to-abate sectors such as cement, steel, chemicals, and pulp & paper, and has been advancing in the adoption of sustainable solutions in its production processes. The transition to low-carbon production processes requires investments in energy efficiency, technological innovation, circular economy, and solutions such as electrification, green hydrogen, and carbon capture and storage (CCS). This panel will discuss pathways to accelerate industrial decarbonization, the infrastructure and financing requirements, as well as the role of public policies, corporate commitments, and carbon markets in supporting this transformation.
