Rodrigo Levkovicz

Rodrigo Levkovicz holds a Master’s degree in Diffuse and Collective Rights from PUC-SP (Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo) and specializations in Environmental Law and State Law from ESPGE-SP (Higher School of the State Attorney General’s Office). He served as a State Attorney from 2006 to 2018 and was a member of the State Environmental Council (Consema), where he chaired its Thematic and Procedural Commission from 2014 to 2018. He also served as a member of the Environmental Compensation Chamber and the Council for the Defense of the Historical Heritage of the State of São Paulo (CONDEPHAAT).

São Sebastião Disaster: Technology and Mobilization for Reconstruction

The panel discusses the lessons learned, challenges, and paths forward following the tragedy caused by heavy rains in São Sebastião in 2023, which resulted in severe human, social, environmental, and economic losses on the North Coast of São Paulo. From the perspective of public administrators, environmental experts, and representatives of the private sector, the debate addresses how to combine technology, territorial planning, and public engagement to strengthen coastal resilience in the face of extreme weather events. The results of the Restaura Litoral Norte project, developed by the Institute for Coastal Conservation (ICC) with public and private partners for the recovery of São Sebastião, will also be presented.

Ecological Restoration as a Decarbonization Strategy
