Energy Transition and Decarbonization Stage

Decarbonization Pathways for Industrial Sectors

Industry plays a crucial role in reducing global greenhouse gas emissions, especially in hard-to-abate sectors such as cement, steel, chemicals, and pulp & paper, and has been advancing in the adoption of sustainable solutions in its production processes. The transition to low-carbon production processes requires investments in energy efficiency, technological innovation, circular economy, and solutions such as electrification, green hydrogen, and carbon capture and storage (CCS). This panel will discuss pathways to accelerate industrial decarbonization, the infrastructure and financing requirements, as well as the role of public policies, corporate commitments, and carbon markets in supporting this transformation.
05 Nov 11:30 - 12:30

Financial Literacy and Citizenship in Times of Climate Change: Information as the Starting Point for Reducing Inequalities

The growing participation of retail investors in the Brazilian capital markets reveals both opportunities for democratisation and risks of exclusion. This panel discusses how financial education can be an instrument of citizenship, expanding conscious access to investments and preventing pitfalls that deepen inequalities. The conversation brings together diverse perspectives to reflect on the role of the public sector, the market, and society in building a robust financial culture capable of transforming information into autonomy and economic inclusion.

Alliance for the Atlantic Forest: Water Security, Climate, People, and Development in the Medium Tietê and Paraíba do Sul Basins

The SOS Mata Atlântica Foundation is launching the Alliance for the Atlantic Forest, a coalition of companies committed to the conservation and restoration of the biome, especially in the Medium Tietê and Paraíba do Sul river basins, at a pre-COP30 event. These territories concentrate the contemporary challenges for providing essential ecosystem services for the society’s multiple uses — cities, industry, and agribusiness. In total, they cover more than 5 million hectares, 170 municipalities, and 12 million inhabitants, with a restoration potential of over 300 thousand hectares of Permanent Preservation Areas (APP). These regions are strategic for carbon sequestration, nature-based solutions, and the strengthening of the Brazilian economy.
05 Nov 12:30 - 13:30
Climate Justice and Sociobiodiversity Stage

Blue Breath: The Role of the Seas in the Balance of Climate and Life

The oceans regulate the climate, absorb carbon, and serve as the cradle of the planet’s greatest biodiversity—but they face growing pressure from plastic pollution and climate change. This panel discusses public policies, legal frameworks, and preservation efforts focused on mangroves, coastal zones, and the high seas, highlighting the urgency of integrated ocean governance. Bringing together science, coastal communities, and global initiatives aligned with the UN Decade of Ocean Science, the discussion reflects on how to protect this “blue breath” that is essential to life and the planet’s future.

Biofuels: Innovation and the Decarbonization of the Energy Matrix

With its strong agricultural and industrial base—particularly in the sugar-energy sector—the State of São Paulo is strategically positioned to lead the production, innovation, and commercialization of second- and third-generation biofuels. This panel will discuss opportunities for technological development, incentive policies, and supply chain integration to expand the role of biofuels in both the state and national energy matrix. One Health: Integrated Response to the Climate Crisis

The One Health approach recognizes the interdependence between human, animal, and environmental health, proposing integrated responses to climate crises and their impacts on ecosystems, communities, and health systems. Climate change increases the incidence of infectious diseases and affects food security, water quality, and mental health, requiring coordinated action across different sectors. This panel will discuss strategies that strengthen the resilience of populations and ecosystems. Opportunities for research, technology, and intersectoral collaboration to prevent health risks associated with climate change will also be addressed.
